FAQ - Fraser Coast Jetski Tours
* Do you require a licence? No a licence is not required. Tours are fully guided and thorough safety briefings and demonstrations are provided.
* Is any jet ski experience necessary? No, our tour guide will tell you everything you need to know and all safety gear is provided.
* Are the tours suitable for families? Yes, our tours are suitable for families and it is a great day out! The minimum driver age is 16 years and the minimum passenger age is 8 years old. If the driver is under 18 years of age, an indemnity form must be signed by a parent or guardian prior to your tour.
* Do I need to be physically fit to participate on your tours? Yes, as conditions vary greatly from day to day, some days are easy cruising loving life in calm water, whilst others can be a little more physically demanding dodging wind, waves, and salt spray. As a result, we do request that all participants have a reasonable level of fitness to deal with the physical demands of jetskiing.
* What should I wear and what should I bring with me? Both tours should be treated like a day at the beach…bring your swimmers, rash shirt, some casual clothes, sunscreen and a towel. Don’t forget your sense of adventure! We will deck you out on the jet ski with all the necessary safety gear and riding apparel.
* What riding apparel and safety gear is included? Guests are provided with optional thermal tops (limited numbers), wetsuit shorts (limited numbers) and safety gear including bright lifejackets.
* Where can I put my gear or valuables? Given the nature of the tour, it may be best to leave your valuables at home or at your accommodation, however there is a small water resistant storage compartment on each jet ski. Remember that anything on a jetski could get wet, and will also be shaken around, so things like phones, cameras ect are best left behind. Any extra accessories can be locked in a secure locker in our office.
* Where do the tours go? The Hervey Adventure tour showcases the Hervey Bay Waterfront, Point Vernon and Gatakers Bay. This area is commonly calmer than open waters as it is protected from our South Easterly tradewinds. The Fraser Explorer tour heads further afield, into the "Great Sandy Straits" island hopping our way toward the pristine coastline of Fraser Island.
* How long is the ride? The Hervey Adventure is a one and a half hour ride around the Hervey Bay Foreshore whilst the Fraser Explorer tour is a two and a half hour ride around the Great Sandy Straits and along the coastline of Fraser Island.
* Do you get off the jet ski? On the Hervey Adventure you stay on the jetskis for the one and a half hour tour around the Hervey Bay Foreshore. During the Fraser Explorer Jetski tour there is a short stopover on an island oasis, taking in the beauty with some photos and exploration.
* What is the cost of the tours? The Hervey Adventure is $299 per jet ski or $149.50 per person twin share and the Fraser Explorer Jetski Tour is $349 per jetski or $174.50 per person twin share.
* What is your cancellation policy? If our company cancels a tour due to weather or an uncontrollable scenario, we will try to change the booking to another time which is suitable to you. If this is not possible, we will offer a full refund. For guests who cancel for any reason prior to 24 hours before your scheduled tour time, we will offer a full refund. For guests who cancel within 24 hours of their scheduled tour time, or "no show" guests, payment in full will be charged, at the discretion of Fraser Coast Jetski Tours.
* Are there any additional costs? There are no additional costs on either tour, however on the Fraser Explorer Jetski Tour you may wish to take some money if you wish to purchase anything at Kingfisher Bay Resort.
* Is lunch included? Lunch is not included on either of our tours however we do provide power snacks for our guests on the Fraser Explorer Jetski Tour, and we return at 1pm, with Cafe Baleana ready to take your order, so you can have a scrumptious lunch overlooking the marina.
* Are drinks included? We provide bottled water on both of our tours. Other drinks can be purchased on the Fraser Explorer Jetski Tour at Kingfisher Bay Resort.
* What other activities are included? On our tours you will see an array on marine life including sea turtles and dugongs. Stinger free swimming is a common occurrence on our tours depending on weather, and of coarse we have a lot of fun with the camera taking an assortment of photos for you to keep forever, free of charge!
* How many guests can fit on a jet ski? Two adults can travel twin share. You can also travel solo if you wish to be the sole rider of the jet ski!
* What time do you leave? The Fraser Explorer Jetski Tour operates in the morning from 9.15am – 1.00pm and the Hervey Adventure tour operates in the afternoon from 1.30pm – 4.15pm. Timings include check in, briefings and demonstrations.
* Where do you leave from? We leave from Great Sandy Straits Marina, Berth A2 for our guided jetski tours. We meet at our office beside Breakfree Resort Hervey Bay Reception. Put "Fraser Coast Jetski Tours" into Google Maps and it'll take you to our door. Plenty of free parking is available in front of our office at the Great Sandy Straits Marina Carpark, 17 Buccaneer Drive, Urangan, just behind the Mantra Resort.
* Can we get photos? Yes! We take photos of you on the day and upload them to Facebook where you can download them for free! Don't forget to tag yourself in the photos, share and like our page!
* How fast can we go on the jetski? New Australian laws have been introduced for jet ski hire and jet ski tour operators. The law requires that jet skis cannot exceed 30 knots.
* What if the weather is too rough? Fraser Coast Jetski Tours offer great tour options for most weather conditions. In a strong south easterly (the prominent wind direction) the Hervey Adventure offers a protected tour option around the Hervey Bay foreshore. The tours operate most days and can be varied according to the weather. We do always warn guests if the conditions are a little windy and a more adventurous tour is expected and it is up to the guests to decide if they want to take on the adventure! In extreme weather conditions tours will not operate but if it is just raining…no problems….you are going to get wet anyway!!!!
* I am not a confident swimmer – can I travel? Yes. If you unexpectedly fall in the water, you do need to be confident enough to swim back to your own jet ski. For guests with little or no experience, the tour guides offer dedicated attention, personalised service and briefings with extra tuition as needed and you can always travel near the guide enroute. Full safety gear including lifejackets are provided which aids buoyancy.
* What if I have a disability – can I travel? Being an adventurous activity we need to be aware as to the extent of any disability. We are obliged to meet specific safety criteria and ensure that guests have a suitable level of fitness and understand the basics of the safety brief. We have carried many guests with physical and intellectual disabilities and endeavour to provide extra attention and assistance in every way. In some instances a medical certificate may be necessary.
* How many jet skis do you have? We currently have 6 guest jet skis, carrying a total of up to 12 people.
* Can groups travel? Our tours are perfect for a small group wanting a day out – large families, conference, rewards, incentives, students, wedding groups or just a bunch of friends! It is the ideal choice of Fraser Coast tours and can be tailor made to suit requirements.
* What is the minimum age and maximum age? The minimum driver age is 16 years and the minimum passenger age is 8 years old on both of our tours. If the driver is under 18 years of age, an indemnity form must be signed by a parent or guardian prior to tour. There is no maximum age, you just need to be physically capable of riding a jetski.
* Is there a maximum weight limit? Weight restrictions do apply with a maximum of two adults per jet ski or 230kg per jet ski.
* What type of jetskis will we be riding? Fraser Coast Jetski Tours operate Sea-Doo GTI 1500cc jet skis, chosen for their excellent build quality, reliability, safety and performance. Our jet skis handle sea conditions extremely well and are ideal for our Fraser Coast waters.
* Are the tours guided? Yes, a tour guide travels with every group. A thorough safety briefing and demonstrations are provided by a qualified tour guide and tours are fully supervised at all times.
* Do we see any marine animals? Yes. Sea turtle watching (especially on the Fraser Explorer Jetski Tour) as well as occasional dugong, seabird and whale (seasonal) sightings.
* I have a very special request – can you help out? Yes! Fraser Coast Jetski Tours happily cater for any special requests and can tailor tours to suit. Wedding proposals, birthday surprises, anniversaries and private charters – no problem!
* Do Fraser Coast Jetski Tours hold any accreditations? Yes, Fraser Coast Jetski Tours are a member of Fraser Coast Tourism (FCT) for its Fraser Coast Jetski Tours ensuring a quality tourism experience. Previously, we were a finalist in the "Best Customer Service" and "Best Marine Business" categories.
* I don't have a car, what's the best way to get to the meeting point for the tours? The Great Sandy Straits Marina is part of the Urangan Boat Harbour. There are two bus services servicing the marina from the city centre. Our meeting point is approximately 200m walk from the Boat Club Bus Stop. Turn left when you exit the bus, walk until you find a roundabout, turn right toward the Great Sandy Straits Marina, and walk a further 50m where you will find our Hexagon Hut beside the Break Free Resort Reception. Put Fraser Coast Jetski Tours into Google Maps, and it will take you straight to our front door.
